Well, this weekend I took a trip to Lancaster to visit a friend at the University - yesterday a few of us decided to take a trip to Bowness-on-Windermere /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

After an amazing lunch in The Angel Inn (http://www.the-angelinn.com/), whose beer battered haddock and chunky home-made chips were the star of the day, we decided to take a little trip out on the water... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

The weather was cloudy but warmish, and no rain, with intermittent sunny spells /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

An excellent day, and an hour on the boat for all 5 of us cost £22, which was great considering the tour boat was about that for 45 mins!

We were jolted around by an idiot in a big maxum who razzed past at arounf 25 knts in the six knot zone and missed our transom by about 6 inches, what an idiot! If you have seen him out give him a hand signal from me /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif FInally understood what the raggies are going on about, but that was plain stupid!

Great day, will definitely be returning! Didnt see Lakesailors boat/B&B or anything, but we went past the ferry, which is sooooooooooo slow!

Highly recommend it for a day out /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Great piccies (im fed up of saying that).

If the weather keeps up im gonna go up to Windermere next week with SWMBO & the Kids, plan on camping by the lake and taking the Dinghy/Outboard for a bit of fun. The weather will probably bugger the plans up no doubt.

Hope you got one of them lovely Ice Creams from the hut at the side of the boat trip place. Bloody marvellous they are.

The pictures dont show how good the weather actually was - I know it looks dull but it actually wasn't, it's just my cameraphone that makes it look that way cos I've done something to the brightness switch /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

The guys at the boat place were great and the boss said even though it should be £8 per adult, he'd only charge us £22 because we looked forlorn /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Great guy, chat him up a bit if you go and dnt take the dinghy /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif The hire boats have quite loud engines but go at a fair lick, for Windermere anyway!

Didnt have an ice cream, will do next time!

I fancy trying the new Dinghy out as the motor hasn't been used for some time according to the guy I got it off.

I have hired them small boats before. They good fun.

Of course we did, but we had no way of knowing, there was no speedo /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif No idea what speed it got up to, i doubt it broke double figures though /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

That Maxum driver was a nutter, I always slowed down when we passed yachts moored, rowers and fishers, and they all waved a thanks, just to prove it could be done, even though we had very little wash anyway /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I'm jealous!! Looks like a great day out! We have great weather here (in Greece) but proper British fish and chips is a distant memory /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Pity about the nutter, but sounds like you handled it well.

You will find that Windermere has its own version of the colregs and a lot of nutters on the water. A lot of the hire boats seem to congregate around the red bouys and then get warned off by the wardens.

My boats at the right hand back of those shown in the 4th from last pic where you are in the path of the ferry.

A lovely spot, actually, very nice!

I have some video but havent put them together yet, I may do tomorrow /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
