Recents posts may have given an impression of a Solent full of bully ferries, wall to wall boats etc. Well this weekend was great, good stiff breeze in the mid 20s with occasional gusts in the 30s, lots of sun and every body on the water seeming to be enjoying themselves. We had good thresh at over 10kts up to SBS, moored up in the sun to watch the power boats race which after the first few circuits got a bit boring until one boat climbed on top of another! right in front of us. Had another good thresh back towards the forts. We were going back and forth for the kicks in going as fast as possible by Mary Rose when we were joined by a 15-20 foot porpoise who to our pleasure played with us as we reached back and forth.
No trouble with ferries and the racers so all in all a very good weekend in spite of not getting to Fecamp which was the original gambit.

For goodness sake don't tell everyone! Some of us have spent years spreading rumours that the Solent is all but inhabitable, but if you insist on telling them how it really is, they'll be streaming in form the frozen North.

Don't come over to Southsea, it is where the navy store all the old WW2 mines. They just bob around in an approx 6 mile square due south of the entrance to langstone harbour, with a bit of east and west. Best you all keep away
