Looking for something I can run off the shore power or rechargeable, that is small, easily handled, powerful and with flexible extensions to get into nooks and crannies.
It will have general boat use but its specifically to clean up the enormous amounts of dust, old glue, headlining foam and fibre glass slivers that are covering the interior as I powertool my way though the disintegrating headlinings and power brush/ scrape away the detritus left behind stuck to the interior. Im almost done in the forecabin and its like a black sahara in there, and the sallon is next, so really need to clean the place up and try and keep it as clean as I can as I go. Thx.

I have a Nilfisk and very pleased. Seems robust. Its wet vac'd diesel from the bilges, swept 2 chimneys, hovered up plaster, all sorts.

I avoid all the Screwfix Einhell and Erbauer stuff.

It depends what you mean by small of course. If you really mean small then have a look at the Black & Decker Flexi Dustbuster Lithium 14.4 Volts rechargeable. It won't handle big stuff or wet stuff, but ours gets used every day and provided you keep the filter cleaned its remarkably effective. They do an 18 Volt version too. Its about £60 for the 14 volt and about £80 for the 18 Volt

I've a couple of mains workshop vacs, nilfisc ones. But recently bought an 18v bosch GAS 18V 10L..... Its bloody brilliant! I've loads of batteries so bought the naked version, you could as easily get knock off batteries from ebay. They do an even smaller version but not tried it.
Mine gets about 20 mins of a 5ah battery.

I have an old Goblin from the 80s. Sucks a like &@“!%*<! And it just keeps going. Anything pre 95 seems to be built to quality rather than cost.

but a cordless battery one would be convenient no doubt.

Not sure I’d second this (unless it was only directed towards vacuums?!).

Erbauer is simply Screwfix mid-range own branding. Plenty of excellent stuff in these ranges rebadged from the big manufacturers.

In particular, I’ve got a brushless 18v drill that’s outlived all it’s big-brand counterparts (over 5 years of weekly use). It’s a Worx. And most recently a 2100W router that’s as good as any under £200.

All the reviews generally point to the same. Plus if they die, take them back (some have 2 year warranties) and they’ll swap no questions asked.

Not a fan of Dyson generally, but absolutely love my Dyson “car and boat” portable. I can do a whole 40’ (cushions, bunks, sole etc) on one charge and it’s been very reliable (5yrs +) you can get a 12v charger for it too

I'm thinking of getting one just for the boat (okay and also the car/van!)...

Not new (too pricey for me) - but the current models can be picked up very cheap used. There's loads around, often with tired batteries (which can be replaced cheaply).

That’s what we use to replace the Dyson and it’s much better but not really made for heavy duty use.

They are great for catching mozzies, no splat on the coach roof.

I'm very impressed by the Gtech multi which we acquired from my late SIL a few years ago. Pretty expensive if I recall the adverts. correctly but light, powerful and long run time.
