A good Idea

Following a boat fire at a london marina this email has been doing the rounds.Not sure if this standard practice but seems a blimming good idea. ?

Hello..... there was an article in YBW regarding a motor yacht fire in St. Kats Marina recently


All our emergency procedures kicked into action.
‘We’re proud of ourselves because we make all our boat owners fill out an emergency form, which list contact details, pictures of the boat and a list of all gas bottles, diesel and petrol on board.
‘When the fire service arrived we were able to let them know exactly what they were dealing with.’
He added: ‘The owner was away in the States when everything happened.
‘It’s a lesson to all boat owners that it’s not safe to leave fan heaters on, it really isn’t. This one was left on a thermostat.’

I remember doing something like that for the guys at MDL's Penton Hook Marina. Can't remember exactly when.

~Would appear to be good idea to know the approximate location and number of gas bottles aboard any boat.

It's why I use the crystal type de-humidifiers NOT the plug in type - just don't trust them.

Have been several gone up in flames to my recollection.
