Well, the pickup buoy is usually on the boat's foredeck, so it is not as bad as if it were in the water. I grant that in Tony's case, its his business, so he has evcery reason to re-write it!
But the convenience of being able to phone the owner of a mooring to find out when he/she will be back and avoid all hassles seems to, me, to have a lot going for it. If the mooring owner is out of cellphone range one could leave a message.
That would be nothing but a further blow to the self reliance of all the softy yotties there are about nowadays. Of course, returning at 3 a.m. and finding my mooring occupied is wonderfully character building for me, but, there, I just a softy myself, really. Happily it doesn't happen often as most people are frightened of our little creek. Softies!
