Cunundrum, Technical and VHF Training say's I need a ground plane for my VHF Antenna. Now what do you think, should the A Frame/Radar Arch be connected to the Boats Neg supply? or is tha fact th\t the frame and engine are in th water and therefore connected to neg anyway?

Your thoughts.

Thanks

[/ QUOTE ]From your web site I assume you are talking RIBs. The vhf antennae used for marine radios do not need a ground plane in the true sense. Drill a hole in the arch plate, mount the antenna, connect it up to the radio and away you go after getting your ships licence and operators licence.

The arch will effectively be grounded via the co-ax through to the casing of the rig and hence to -ve side of the battery.
