As some of you may remember, we finally got our boat (a Sealine F37) sold just before midsummer. After some frantic boat searching we soon realised that there's not enough time to find a new one for the summer holidays and that we would be spending the summer boatless. All in all it has still been a good summer. We've enjoyed the garden, travelled a bit and done a lot of soul searching regarding boating. More on that later.

Anyway, I promised not to spam you with photo's, but here are some of the boaty keepers I thought I'd share.

Naantali, Finland (went to see the Moomin-characters with kids).

A nice new Nimbus.

This beauty was moored on the opposite side. Does anybody recognize it? The dinghy looks a bit out of place on the foredeck, though.

Our favourite marina at Savonlinna was in shambles as they are building a bypass right next to it. The sky was dramatic though.

A virtual pint for spotting the location of these.

(Edit) One more from the same place.

And the last one from last weekend. Summer is definitely over.

thanks for posting, just have to say, your last photo I am sure is retailable... superb shot.

so as you are currently boatless... what are your plans? Do I get the feeling you may be tempted by a wheelhouse boat rather than FB this time? (judging by your choice of subject matter!)

Nice pics Scubaman, thanks
#3 looks like a Hinckley Talaria. I cannot tell the length but maybe the 44. I'm not 100% sure on this though and don't have time to look on the web. Also I don't know if boaters in your area would have jets. Hinckleys are very special machines, anyway. It's not the Dale - the Dale has much less tumblehome than the boat in your picture

turned into spot the boat... and indeed jfm is awarded the golden anorak as is the norm.. must say the single wheelhouse side window had me starting to doubt if it was a dale... look very similar though

I'm not 100% sure firefly, as i said above. some details on that boat look very hinkley but the varnished trim strip above the front 3 helm windows is not hinkley, nor is the varnished mast, nor is the kink at the bottom of each stanchion. and the stainless steel "logoed" anchor strike plate isn't hinckley afaik

Trouble is, there are so many Hinckley lookalikes on the market.

It's not a Dale though!

Yup... virtual pint goes to jfm.

On closer examination, has a different stemhead fitting and doesn't have the curved hand rails (with leather grip) at the rear of the wheelhouse.
(hangs head in shame!)

One thing that has become clear is that we need a (motor)boat. Unclear, however is of which type. We are currently exploring all the options (excluding motorcats) and have two trips planned for coming two weeks to view very different candidates. Lot's of pros and cons to ponder, but hopefully it becomes clear sooner rather than later. I'll do another post on this a bit further on.

Agreed, its not a Dale, but Hinckley lookalikes do seem plentiful... and frankly I'm not surprised, as whatever it is looks great.

Also I don't know if boaters in your area would have jets.

Jets are fairly common around here due to shallow and rocky coastal waters. Majority of navy/coast guard/customs/etc. -boats run on jets. As do many of the pleasure boats that are available with jets.

After better inspection I think it is not a Hinckley or a Dale, so the closest that comes to mind would be the old Austin Parker (today Artika) 40 Speedster. But even that has some differences the new Artika, and I cannot find a picture of the old AP.

It's not an AP or Artika. Lots of detailed reasons why, but APs never had tumblehome like the one in Scubaman's pic. Also this mystery boat is nearly new - I bet less than 2 years old
