In the end, we manage to work around Mrs FP being on-call, and just made sure we weren't too far from land.
There was no rush, so we trundled past the elegant sailing boats travelling slowly.

This was interesting: the owner demonstrated his SidePower remote control for the bow/stern thrusters!
Apparently he regularly single-hands, and uses the remote to keep the boat against the pontoon until he hops aboard.
Very effective, and slightly scary.

Flower Power is tucked away there, just to the side of the tree.

The two doughnuts put on a spectacularly poor display of synchronised manual tender propulsion.
More practice required!

Great pics FP. Does that sign really say 'Private. No mooring alongside'? Is it a serious warning to potential raftees?

:)

Yup, it's a warning that your raft might end up going downstream and round in circles for a bit, controlled by the Fairline's remote from the shore :D
Not sure what the actual range on the remote is, but it could be very very expensive to find out!

That second pic is a cracker, very nice. The remote control sounds like a Yachtcontroller. What's the boat though, a heavily customised Targa 52?

Cheers
Jimmy

hmm, I could well have been wrong about the remote controlling the engines, but he manouvred into the channel before being at the helm. Could be thrusters only. Roof behind radar arch is definitely not standard.

The shot in question looks like it was taken up Lord Edward Montague's river, in which case the sign on the boat could well be correct, due to the fact there are a great deal of private pontoon moorings along the river. But I could be wrong.

Nice set of images FP, thank you for sharing.

Cracking pictures FP! had the fortune to be with some fellow forum members this weekend on various boats and its reignited my need for another boat!

Indeed very good pictures, FP. #1 is my favorite.

I saw similar system in action on a Prin V58 two weeks ago. The guy had the remote hanging on his neck and he stood on the side deck applying short bursts of thrusters once the ropes were off. Seemed very handy if slightly handicapped as he had to take the helm to control the engines. That Yachtcontroller looks the biz.
