Went to the boat on the Sunday afternoon with the intention of doing some behind the scenes investigation for the later installment of new audio, replacement leds and a wireless parking camera. Got behind the scenes allright and broke a ceiling panel along the way. Hey ho, you live and learn… After a long evening of following cable conduits and working out my options I decided to limit further damage and call it a day. It's amazing how much cable there is and how difficult it is to find proper routes for retro-installing electronics. I slept on the boat (only +7 C onboard), cleaned up the mess in the morning and drove to my mother-in-law's to join the family in anticipation of the Santa's visit. Despite the chilly conditions, I thoroughly enjoyed my quick getaway to the boat.

The result of fixing something that ain't broken

The marina was packed but awfully quiet

Our usual boating grounds in Savonlinna look so very different in winter. It was a very crisp and clear day on Sunday with temps as low as -30 C. The steady current in Kyrönsalmi, one of the busiest spots in Saimaa in the summer, keeps the water open and the steam arising from the water gave a nice ambience to the beautiful sunset.

Thanks Scuby, have a great Finish Christmas. I don't envy the sauna then roll in the snow with the inlaws:eek:
Pix are lovely, but it must be challenging mooring in that shed. Looks awfully tight:)

Bit off a problem if you need to leave early before the other boaters arrive and you are @ the back - o
Or is this where you guys keep your boats in the winter season - if so then a great idea - is the shed heated in the winter btw as looks very dry inside !!!

It would be interesting to see a time-lapsed video of the 'stacking of the shed', seeing the setting up of the cradles and positioning of the boats.

There's a thought for the spring. Most of the boats are on trailers (mine included) so they are easy to maneuver into place.

Thanks, H. BTW, the colours are straight out of the camera, no enhancements.

I am the same. I'll do the odd magic mark rub out and crops but I don't mess about much after the button is pressed. I do everything on the camera with exposures.

The 2nd Thailand video is up now taken with the Canon 600 DSLR

Henry :)

The operator put's in long hours when the ice melts and takes care of emptying the shed and moving boats back to the marina.

It is dry with relative humidity around 45%. Could be a few degrees warmer though (currently around 4 - 5 C).

Oops I did not appreciate in the photos yesterday that the boats was in-fact in dry dock - obviously had 2 much xmas pudding ;)

Hi kivi, good to see binks again, all nicely tucked up in a shed to keep her warm.

Did you sort the rpm loss on the stb engine?

I'm working on that phantom 46 soon so. Will send you some pics of the gearbox breather mod I did to stop the oil breathing out the vent cap.

Hi Scubaman - this good forum lark enables us to hook up with like minded people all round the world.
Wishing you and your family a happy new year and happy boating in the coming season - kr Terry

Thank you Terry, let me wish the very same to you and your family, as well as everybody else on this thread and of course on this absolutely great forum.

The local Volvo engineer read the EDC data with a vodia on a test drive but I haven't gotten his analysis on that yet as he's been on his summer holiday in Thailand. Hope to get more info in a couple of weeks. I'll let you know what turns up.

Thank's re the breather mod. It hasn't been a big issue but I'll definitely follow your example to keep things tidy.

There's a thought for the spring. Most of the boats are on trailers (mine included) so they are easy to maneuver into place.

I was getting confused between this type of trailer storage and photos you previously posted showing boats stored in a dry or graving dock arrangement, where they are floated onto cradles and the water is pumped out leaving them high and dry, like the 'Dock Wise' international shipping concept of float on, float off.

Will this current boat be launched like your previous Sealine, towed down to the water on it's trailer?

......and yes, any video footage would be gratefully appreciated :)
