I just finished uploading these photos last night when I spotted Oceanfroggies post with his beatiful sunset pics. We must be on a similar cosmic brain wave or something, as I was just about to share these pics from Sat evening when we were treated to the best sunset of the summer so far.

We've got about a month and a half left. By mid October nights can often fall below zero and days become so short it's better to retire for the winter. A couple of years ago the beginning of November saw temps plummet to -20 C quickly covering the lakes with a 10 cm thick 'ice of steel', as we call it. Would have been a disaster to have had the boat in the water at that time.

Incidentally, I was on a diving trip just then and had we not been on a steel tug, we'd have been in trouble.
