At the risk of boring everyone with more pics of the lakes, I decided to post a few as we had a great weekend onboard.
After a rather dodgy latter part of August, the warm and settled weather returned for the last weekend. We had left the boat to Lappeenranta with MapisM & S on the previous weekend, so we now drove her to Puumala, some 40 miles north. We then decided to stay overnight in one of the nearby islands called Rokansaari.
Towards the evening the sky cleared and what little wind there had been, died completely. The quietness was such that closing the transom gate seemed a racket and was echoed back from the woods.
These pics are best viewed in the dark…
In the morning we woke up to this
Whilst walking on the beach I heard a fog horn from a cargo ship passing behind a couple of islands.
A little while later, these guys appeared from the fog. In rather exited tones they told me how they nearly hit a cargo ship… go figure… A story I heard repeated quite a few times on the pontoon during the morning.
Half an hour later the fog had lifted and a fishing competition was about to begin.
Every crew for themselves…
We then had a very pleasant stroll in the woods.
The sauna we used the day before
We the headed back to Puumala on the Sunday afternoon. I came across this, does anyone recognise the make or model. No prizes for guessing what the shead in the cockpit is for
I only wish the weather had been as kind to us on our delivery trip with P & S.
