At last we had time for a first decent trip on board. For those interested:
Saturday night: Late arrival at Foulkes Boatyard, kids to bed and then checks and preparations made.
Sunday: Early (ish) start.
A lovely trip to Alum Bay in the Sunshine.
The big green lumps were purring. Thanks Paul. Chairlifts, fishing, paddling, boat repairs and sunburn... all boxes ticked!
On to Yarmouth for two days of crabbing, coffees and general mooching around.
We had a lovely walk up to the fort and discovered a quaint aquarium run by some lovely people.
Tuesday: A short hop up to Cowes and Sheppards followed by shopping and a good meal at the Duke of York pub...proximity to the boat was important by this stage as all very feeling a bit jaded!
To be honest, Sheppards was pretty lumpy and while it didn't bother us the dog was not impressed!
Wednesday: A crew decision was taken to move up to the Folly... Which was pretty empty...
but we had a great meal on board and messed about in the dingy etc.
Thursday: Left the Folly at 8.30am before it got windy and enjoyed a flat calm trip back to the Hamble.
After a lot of cleaning and tidying we moved onto the Royal Vic Park for a picnic lunch and fun in the sun. All in all a perfect trip to the coast.... And I can't believe it is still April
