A Dutch Experence July 07
Arrived Oostende with 90 Lts of Red Diesel in the tank + 10 Lts in a can ( with receipt )decided against “Ships Stores” as beer ect still a reasonable price in Holland & if I did get stopped booze + red might just not mix.
Arrived in Vlissingen with no visits or questions.
Left 2 days later entered Holland via the Roompot Sluis, spent 2 weks in Zeeland on a lazy holiday.
Stayed 4 nights in the Wsv. Bru ( Bruinesse ) a very friendly club every body passes the time of day with you, facilities first class, the only down side was local youth + van + very loud noise emitting from van on the near by beach one evening.
Sailed to Wemeldinge , good facilities but showers small + extract very poor more like a Sauna in the mens washroom.
Katts Marina, first class + a very expensive lobster supper for 2 @ E130.00
Left via the Sluis @ Vlissengen & met friends in Breskens
We didn’t see any Customs or any other Official whilst in Holland
We didn’t submit a Shengen form but have them in “ Ships Papers” folder
We didn’t have the Almanak one ( as usual in 23 yrs of cruising Holland we have never had or been asked if we have a copy )
I did buy 20 lts white diesel from the Texaco Garage in Breskens @ E0.85 ( £0.61 ) just to make sure we had sufficient to get back home as it turned out we still had 100 Lts in the tank on arrival @ home berth
Bought beer from the local big supermarket with receipt rather than from the “General Stores” so HMC couldn’t nick it on our return, bait them with the Belgian curtsey flag up the Orwell but no takers .
the weather was generally better than the UK during this time, we had breakfast most days in the cockpit ( we have a boom tent) that helps rain & shine, evening meals that werent taken ashore were all taken in the cockpit.
