"Solent Coastguard" this is yacht blah blah we have a passage plan, -

The poor old coastguard then attempted with the usual prompts to squeeze the right information out of the yacht.

Then the station asked? "could I have Solents' phone number so that we can ring you when we get there?"

Response from Solent CG- "oh you don't need to ring us, ring the ones that love you and those who care about you the most!

Gave me a good chuckle - thanks SG.

I've not logged a passage plan for years. But for some reason I did this year on a passage from falmouth to southern brittany. On arrival I actually phoned the CG to say thanks. The nice chap must of been bored i could not get off the phone to him..

I suspect some people dont realise that all most busy CG stations do with such info is file it. There is no proactive following up. Its simply a help if someone subsequently raises the alarm.
