De Tukker, a 1946, Dutch-built, 8.2 metre LOA, 1.1 metre draught, oak-on-oak cruising yacht, designed by Van Höevell and built by “De Vlijt” in Aalsmeer (the De Vries brothers, later Feadship Royal Dutch Shipyards) was badly damaged in a collision on 14 June. She is beyond economic repair by a commercial yard but is, without doubt, repairable.

Built in fits and starts during the war, she was launched in 1946 and raced offshore. She came to England in 1958. She was rebuilt by a boatwright at RAF Mountbatten in 1970. In our ownership (from 2000) she has had a new stem, frame doublers where needed, some planking repairs and a new engine. Her history from building is documented.

Our insurance claim has been paid and we no longer have an interest in the boat. The insurers have indicated that she will be given to anybody willing to take her. If anyone is interested in a project to rebuild a classic please contact me by PM asap, giving your actual e-mail address. I can send you more details and pictures, and put you in touch with the claims handler who is dealing with the disposal. Please only get in touch if you are serious about taking her on.
