Im taking by boat to Lefkas in Greece in June and just wondered if any of you could offer advice re scuba diving in Greece. I have 2 specific questions. (I am a qualified diver - BSAC)
1) Im aware of the restrictions on where you can dive but want to know if I can dive independently or do you have to dive with a school/dive shop ?
2) can you get UK-style cylinders with an A clamp fitting filled in Greece.
To be honest I only intend to put my gear on board to enable me to scrub the bottom etc but I dont want to fall foul of the authorities and if its not possible I wont weigh the boat down with my gear.

You can get your bottles filled.
You will need a licence (permission) to dive in some areas, they are very funny about artifacts!! as in, leave them be! That was a while ago, things may have changed ref licence, but filling cylinders is still current.

There is a dive shop in nidri...bottles are the same..I borrowed some gear from and Italian gin palace to retrive my specs from nidri harbour no problems...but I was told the Greek authorities require you to dive with a listed dive company! so It seems that some boats carry dive gear and use it...perhaps to fix boat etc..

Hope this helps!
