A news item on BBC Scotland's online site today is about a 20 year old, driving a car believed stolen. Pursued by Police on the Isle of Lewis, he was arrested after the car left the road and hit... a TREE!
A difficult thing to do on Lewis!

Few natural ones - only some plantations. Although there are a few larger ones in Stornoway.....
But Plod probably knew him by sight anyway......

Lewis is on our list this year- if it all works out we'll be there for the Hebridean Celtic Festival which is a very,very good night out with lots of boatie interest during the day.

I'd concede the food might be better in France...but you get a mean fish supper in Stornoway.

HebCeltFest is a three day event. The pubs are open till the wee sma' hours and every second person is carrying a musical instrument. The SailHeb folk are brilliant. We had a fantastic week there this Summer. Highly recommended.
Food-wise, try scallops and Stornoway black pudding.

A few years ago when I first visited friends who had moved to Islay I parked on the main street in Bowmore, Got out and locked the car.
My friend was deeply offended - so I unlocked it again
Walking down the road about half of the cars were left with the keys in the ignition.
One of the locals said there was a car stolen a few years previously - but it was returned the following day - left parked with the keys in, a note of apology and a pound on the dashboard to pay for the petrol used.

7 or 8 of them at the last count. ( I was having trouble counting that day)
