Met up with Fred & Mitch over the weekend at the exotic Sharfleet.

Saw a very colourful yacht race on the way out

And once at anchor, the mighty contest got under way, between....

Fred

And Mitch

After about half an hour Mitch led the contest with a mussel, a brittlestar and sponge.
I got bored and rowed over to watch the seals, later joined by Mitch and Fred.

Day two of the contest started at the crack of 10.00 hrs o clock and Fred wiped the floor with Mitch, a resounding 5-0 being scored.
Below is what I think is the first photographic evidence of Fred catching a fish.

Mitch had to resort to Eco fishing and had a fine specimen.

A nice weekend in good company, this boating larks not so bad.
(PS. Fred gave his Rod to the fish in gratitude)

I think it must be the tips you gave Mitch when we were at Oulton.
One worrying thing was the seals seemed strangely attracted to me.

The true story.

An entire fleet of Medway boaters (2) managed to meet up with a vast flotilla (1) of Essex lads for an overnighter in a muddy creek over the weekend.
Such fine vessels complete with captain as this

One of the medway boats gave a fine demonstration of fishing techniques.

The actual truth!

Making a very early fast morning escape before the Essex contingent realise all their fenders have gone.
.

Er, i guess the Kent definiton of fast and the rest of the world's must differ slightly...

I didn't think it was worth bothering with the tiddlers you were catching!! And there's a re-match waiting for you any time you want to venture over to our waters..where the real fish lurk! I think you're gonna need a bigger boat!:D (click on the thumbnail!)

fishing??

Try in the salty stuff.

Bradwell Report Saturday 24th July

Just Steve and I this morning late start, had to sort out the auto pilot, so we opted for a quick run round the corner to the “garden” intending to put some bait down and have a relaxing 2/3 hours. When we got there we found these

and then these

so the bait and the relaxing were thrown out of the window, instead we were on our feet for about 3 hours, nothing big but loads of fun

they all went back!!

Nothing big but loads of fun!!

Now where to take the dog for a walk on boat? Take him for a swim instead!

And finally enjoying a peaceful morning? there's always someone who disturbs the tranquility!

Thanks Fred and Al for the invite to the Kent...you are welcome over here any time!

As I said, the seals were very inquisitive when I was sat watching them from the soap dish, one especially would come over very close and then with a snort of derision and a big splash swim away only to come back again a couple of minutes later.
Alby ended up swimming quicker than I can, although when I swim it resembles someone being attacked by a swarm of bees.
Fred and myself were very despondent after we'd been exploring and thought that Mitch had gone back to the boats, but thankfully he hove into view and took pity on us, towing us back against the mighty 1 knot tide.

Wash what wash ?......No worries about fuel consumption here then !

Ps, for a valuable Medway style no money prize...How many fenders can you count.
