A cheap battery monitor

If I wanted someting very accurate and not just to give me a rough Idea when I get to 75% I would've got a smartgauge as they are accurate unlke any amp hour counter I went for this as I cant justify £160 on a meter.
An amp hour counter cannot allow for the ageing of batteries so will always be somewhat inaccuate even with peukert factored in

Agree with Magnette. I got mine cause I had nothing and really need to spend the money on a new battery rather than a meter. It is not intelligent at all like I said simple counter in/out.

HI, I have a Land Yacht Not with a couple of 85AH deep cycles in parallel which I will say is 170AH. I want to use this meter to monitor my battery when there is no "shore power". I know I should not expect this meter to perform like a $500 one, but it's better than saying "humm, that light looks a little dim". I would like to call on the experience here as the only place I can find discussion of this meter to give me some insight. So the V is straight forward, I would assume around 12.7 at full charge right off the house battery charger and around 10.5 completely dead? How does the AH display of this meter function over time; does it start counting (up or down?) as amps are drawn from the battery and does it reverse when the charger goes back on, and do you zero it out or something in order to use it and ensure it is 0 at a full charge, or is this even how it works? Could I expect (in a perfect world) that when the device counted (up/down?) to 170 that my battery would be dead? And when I put it on the charger would it start counting in reverse? Must I zero it or does it zero when it gets back to static charged voltage of 12.7V or so?

How does the percentage option on the lower half of the meter work? Does it seem to calculate the charge level as the voltage begins to voltage fall so from 12.7 and read 0 at a low voltage? What is considered a charge of 0 on this meter and what is the trigger that takes it to 100%?.

Your insight is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. Don

Example product I believe is the top of this discussion:
