One of the boats I'm teaching on. I then move on to a Trader and then an 8.5 metre rib. Current tempreture here is 41 C:D

This is a great bit of kit. Complete with air con and Raymarine E140 wide. It has a fuel capacity of 1,800 litres - but petrol is 18p a litre!

as a raggie, I am impressed.

Why are two o/bs handed one way, and one the other please ? It's bad enough thinking of propwash for one engine !

i would pay good money to see you being towed by that boat on the Banana toy in the back of picture 5!!!

looks lovey out there! Enjoy

If the picture properties are anything to go by I think it may be Doha.

Well spotted! The Pearl - Porto Ariba

In answer to the question about only two throttles, the centre engine only operates when the throttles are pushed forward or put in reverse together. So for example you use the throttles in opposite direction one forward and one in reverse then the centre engine does not "operate". Each engine does start on an individual button, so today with close quarter work we did not even turn the centre engine on.

However, this afternoon we did do a passage and used all 3 - although these engines are 250hp each, they are the "small ones". They do supply them with triple 350s. Why, maybe because they can, but Boston Whaler will not put any guarantee on the boats sold with that option!

do they have tides over there ?
I wonder if the studens have a clue about tidal stream and currents
and find the data on a map,
you need to teach this anyway ?

There is a tide but no stream as such. i am doing a Day Skipper but it will be the same as if done in the Med - i.e. non tidal. I have covered tides because there is a rise and fall and as there is a lot of reclaimed areas and there are some shallows. To give you an idea, the high water heights today were 0.7 metres and 1.5 metres.

and while you are at it... what sort of speed at WOT...?

At the moment, no idea to either really. I have been told that speed at WOT is around 45 knots. i can say that it cruises very comfortably at 35 knots. But it is a heavy boat. As to fuel consumption, they don't care. I actually came across a cat today in a car park that had nobody in it but the engine was running - on raising the question I was told that it was not unusual for people to go shopping or whatever and leave the car running with the aircon on to keep it cool. It was very hot today though - 43C.

The cost of it though is around £350k. But only subject to 5% tax. Oh and just to add insult to injury, nobody pays any income tax!!

That third engine is going to create plenty of drag compared to standard twin setup but bet it will do 45 kts be it laden or light!!!

A friend had a rib with twin 275 verados and said that at wot the smart gauges were showing 145 lph per engine. They were very early models and I know the ecu's were remapped on later models to improve significantly.

Solitaire I don't mean to outdo your engines per boat picture but here is one I took at the very same place a month or so ago:

4 *300 hp!! Must be unbalanced in the water with all that weight at the back.

Hundreds of empty berths when I was there.

Cheers
Jon.

Glad to see the RYA is putting my subs to good use on a suite of cream executive leather chairs. To add insult to injury, someone'll come along in a minute and say Solitaire gets paid for all this hard work!:D
