A cautionary tale.

There was quite a lot of discussion about this when it happened, and then again when the accident report was published last month..including a link to the accident report itself

I think two threads were merged and combined by the mods to the motor boat forum..a shame really as it is of interest to non motor boaters too, who wouldn't normally be seen dead on a forum for the dark side...

Ps ..Oyster is indeed a bit of a bastard in the dark..but it was Raudiere buoy he ploughed over

Many thanks for the redirect. Just thought the fishing boat and the proximity of Oyster Rock lead him to a bit further south than he thought and then it was a recipe for disaster. I find it a bit dodgy with buoyed lights in the pitch dark working out precisely how far away they are, usually
closer than you would anticipate. No excuses, he should have known better, particularly at 9 plus knots. Been there, done that, wiser and thankfully still afloat. Navigation round the Channel Islands certainly keeps you on your toes. Merry Christmas!
