The ATYC have been members of the River Thames Alliance since it's formation in 2003 and have been representing motor boaters interests on the river for over 60 years.

Congratulations to Tony and the TMBA. ;)

A cost free entity, which exists only for Motor Boat owners on the Thames.

Focussed, free from 'Political opinion' and without the 'Old boys network' issues which plague the whole Boating scene.

In a fairly short time, Tony has managed to discuss issues with the people who count, on a one-to-one basis, without committee meetings, membership costs or secrecy.

Thats some feat :D

Agreed. If you cruise the Thames and have not joined then join there is strength in numbers.

Sounds like ATYC hierarchy have joined the forum then. No introduction mind you, but a post history that consists entirely of ATYC propaganda. :D

Most noobs are polite enough to post an introduction. Whats your excuse for ignoring forum etiquette then? ;)

Whether you are a member (my thanks for your support) or not (why not?) I'd like you to know that the Thames MotorBoaters Association has just been accepted as a member of the River Thames Alliance.

More on the website - see my sig.

Time for a Burgee perhaps!:)

Why shoot the messenger ?

"If you want to make enemies try to change something"

Could the emergence of this new group be the result of existing organisations being seen as somewhat exclusive and hierarchical in addition to not representing the entire Thames as it is today ?
An "online" organisation can more readily express the opinions of those unable to devote large amounts of time to the matter due to work commitments etc. ?
Surely any contribution can only add the the strength of the argument .

Is the right answer!

TMBA

'The Association is controlled and managed by the Administrator who also owns the website and the domain www.tmba.org.,

A truly democratic organisation?

I for one joined because i know Tony has motor boaters interests at heart . It took a while for me to join as i am not a "club " person . I like to do my own thing when and where i like . No reason its just how i am .
One thing i do know is that Tony works very hard for no reward to get the points we put on here heard by the EA . Has the ATYC ever done that for me or would they ever listen to my point of view . I doubt it .
Speaking of democratic , i assume you are one of the head people of the ATYC ? Did your members take a vote and agree for you to publicly oppose the TMBA on thier behalf ?
I guess it must be quite a few clubs you are speaking on behalf of .

Seriously, instead of making yourself look like a bit of a <'male chicken'> why don't you do the decent thing and post a proper introduction, rather than hiding behind a pseudonym and posting propaganda.

If, as we deeply suspect you are the person we almost certainly know you to be, you don't have long to do this before somebody complains that a senior committee member of the ATYC is doing such a dirty deed, and trust me you don't want to face the wrath of decent folk in this way, or you WILL be ridiculed to the point you will have to resign.

If your 'posting in subterfuge' gets to be public knowledge, in view of the contents of your posts, which incidentally have been screen grabbed in case I need to use them in the future, the ATYC will also have to either disown you or eat humble pie.

As far as TMBA goes, we all know Tony is the creator, and is as transparent as you are not.

Tread very carefully before this explodes in your face. ;)

I agree. Likewise I have been a non club Thames boater for many years. Not anti social at all, but just don't feel the need to dress my boat, parade my boat lit up like santas grotto or engage in sail pasts dipping my ensign in front of some wannabe dressed like a naval officer. I do not have a problem however for those that enjoy such activities as it does enliven the river in a typically English way, ensures it is enjoyed and makes me smile.
It is for this reason that I support the Thames groups. I am a RTS member as a riparian owner and a recent TMBA member as a boater; we need as many supporting members as we can get at present. I just hope that the groups do not get 'sniffy' towards each other and cooperate as kindred spirits.
Apologies if I have offended any of the River Thames Admirals.:)
