A bit PBO sorry

Found a great new restorer that is meant for cars but runs rings round anything alse I have ever used.

My mates 12 year old T34 needed a good cut and polish but I had done the topsides with 3m restorer and I was not happy so we tried this product from Autosmart.
The green hull had become very dull and milky....

So I cut it with the machine and then gave a coat of Autosmarts £25 wax which will do the boat about 6 time s so not bad and was pleased with the results.

We then gave it the 2 coat Diamond Glaze treatment that i think is a bit like A glaze to protect it and I was well Chuffed.

No interest in the product but if this finish lasts for a while it is the best one I have ever achieved and the roduct isnt expensive, I think it was about £18 and i used about 2/3 of a bottle.

Took best part of 2 days mind and it was damn hot.

Really impressive finish, coloured hulls do look good when they are looked after, amazing difference

Isnt it annoying when you are trying to take a photo and some one who thinks they look like Rambo in a vest wont move out the way



Does anyone know how many times you can cut gel coat back like that before matting or pin pricks start to show in the gel coat ?
Obviously this fairline is in prime condition but could you cut it back like this every year and how can you tell when to stop cutting ?

That was my worry especially as its not my boat but it had never been cut before. It did look alot worse than the before shots show but it was very sunny. I think you would eventually have to repaint it but i think thats a long way off yet.

There must be a finate thickness of gel though

I don't believe you - I think it is two different boats.
If you can repeat the same on mine I will withdraw my comment

Perhaps you just take the muck off and hardly touch the gel ?

Could you tell if your buffer was white/chalky green or green gel colour ?

I kept the buffer pad wet to keep the effect down but it was a bit green as was the rag i buffed it off with. Once into the waxing and Diamond glaeing tho it was clear so i dont think i took too mucyh off

thats bad news as it doesnt leave anyone with much of an excuse not to polish more often

outstanding finish - my boats about the same age and i have never achieved that level of "gleam" - not even with a professional jobbie.

Done plenty of old cars in my time so not difficult just big and took ages.
More importantly my mate said it looked like new so thats the point really. If it can be done with that boat as dull as it was I bet you could get most boats up to that standard with a bit of graft.
