Sailing yesterday a bit of a bugger all in all. I chose one reef and no 4 jib because forecast seemed to indicate a bit of wind. What a mistake. Let go mooring and found us going back wards in an unusual strong tide flow failed to back the jib due to odd NW wind and finally run aground.
Got it off with a bit of shoving and started race only to find wind dropping and we were left behind. Took out reef and put on bigger jib. Even dragged out spinnaker at Dave's insistence. I was all for being lazy.
Anyway went ok for the rest of the race until coming home past 2 deep water posts indicating a sand bar (spit) . Going between the posts something went wrong wind shift then wind drop and tide push again we were on the rocks again. Got towed off after much huffing and puffing with poles and set off again in failing wind. Eventually asked for a tow again to get us home as time limit 3.25 hrs for race was approaching. Crew seemed happy except me real grumpy. (my job)
