How much do you normally pay fpr your 904 refill?
Got one yesterday, (first since getting the boat) and was shocked to hear the price, £18.05, and that wasent including the little screw on cap/handle, which would have been another £3 odds, but I had one of these at home
Is there a cheaper outlet for them around the Glasgow area?
The guy also told me that, to buy an empty bottle would be aprox £52 for a 907/ 904.
I had three 907's which I gave away a while back, as they dont fit my locker anyway.

Gaz is a rip off and costs almost double the price of Calor, despite it being the same gas filled by the same depot but just into different containers. Last year prices locally were £23 for a 4.5kg/10lb Calor cylinder and £31 for a 6lb 907 Gaz one (empties), refilling was £12.15 for 4.5kgs/10lb of 'Calor' or £13.70 for the 6lb 907 but these will have increased in 2008 probably quite a bit. So (last year) Calor cost £1.37 per lb and 'Gaz' cost £2.283 per lb, same gas out of the same tank at the same depot.

I switched our Gaz system over last year to Calor and we can now use either, however we carry enough Calor to normally avoid the need to use Gaz other than in extremis whilst in France, and then the Gaz is only used until such time as the Calor can be exchanged.

I've just paid £34 for two Gaz 907s from my local garage forecourt.

That was cheaper tham mine at £18.05 for a 904.

It is much cheaper to fill them yourself decanting from a larger calor cylinder. Filling with propane is even cheaper than using butane - just have to use a propane regulator. The apdaptors needed are available on ebay for a few beer tokens.

Your local household waste site will have a bottle store for discarded gas bottles, two I have visited sell them for a fiver each! usually they are quite full, often seen the gaz bottles there

I got my last gas bottle from our local site for free, despite having the fiver at the ready. Also my local calor man will exchange any empty calor bottle for any full calor bottle for just the cost of the gas. (He actually advises customers to get old bottles from the tip)
