7.5HP Suzuki Outboard....

Just bought it unseen as part of a boat package. Anybody give me any help with this outboard? All I know is that it's the 2-stroke version. Where might I get a manual or does anybody have advice in looking after this engine? Didn't find much in a google search, seems to be a number of them stolen, however.

You should be able to identify the year of manufacture HERE

It looks as though it might date from the late 1970s

You should be able to find parts lists and exploded diagrams at http://store.brownspoint.com or www.boats.net

Change its gear case oil. If the old oil is milky it contains water and the cause should be investigated and rectified.

It may not have had its water pump impeller changed for some time if ever, therefore check the telltale if it has one otherwise ensure that it is not overheating. Or change it anyway

check/clean/ regap or replace the plug(s)

Grease all grease points and grease or oil all extenal moving parts.

Discard all old fuel and mix fresh. 50:1 would be a good mix in the absence of any information.

Read THIS It's written with OMC engines in mind but might suggest some other points to check.

I doubt if you will find an owners manual on line so you would be well advised to get one through a dealer

Thanks VicS, some good advice. I'll get on to that this week when I get the engine number and hear what the owner has to say.
