It seems your set (1700C) is somewhat older than mine (1723C) - it's therefore possible that your set's unable to interpret the info of the newer gen GPS antenna that came with mine. It might however be OK with an older antenna. Was there one with your set?
The start-up message (top picture) did not stop me from booting the set. Might be due to an internal battery failure.
The screen did 'frits' occasionally.
Whilst I don't know enough about electronics to pronounce your set DOA, I do feel it's past it's prime. But, please, do get a second opinion.
Thanks anyway Will, assistance much appreciated. I'll have a hunt around and see what information I can find on it but don't know anyone that might know more straight away. Didn't get anything other than the set and with the obvious costs involved I wasn't able to fork out for the bits needed if it was totally dead. Just need to make arrangements for returning it and I'll see what else I can find out. Thanks for trying it out though, that's helped a lot. Internal battery may well be one of the issues but I can look into that
