Just saile dmy 10m/33' Seacracker "Sergeant Pepper" from Cardiff on the Bristol Channel to Southsea Marina near Portsmouth. On Tuesday we left Falmouth in an F7 as forecast and spent the day oin an F9 (official) and measured 58 knots at the masthed! It didn't drop below F8 for six solid hours.

We had just two reefs in the main, roller fulring genoa reefed back to #4 jib size and had a truly lovely day of sailing - we even made cooked meals!

But where\'s the rest of the 37,000\' story

It's classic and shouldn't be posted here. It's a tale for YM magazine readers.

H, can you tell me why that everytime you sail you end up having an adventure? (Mind you, you were asleep when I disobeyed instructions and tacked just off the Brisons ... but that was last year.)

Falmouth to Dartmouth ... downwind all the way :)

Speed? Well we left at 10:00 and were entering Dartmouth at around 22:00 ... after about 85 sea miles

Sounds like a memorable sail.

They have permission now to use some "environmentally friendly"pesticides in Cardiff Bay to control the fly problem ,otherwise a lot more would head south this year I think.

That\'s not going to help Crest Nicholson!

I know SEVEN sailboat owners who are moving from Penarth marina ... the flies and the spiders were awful, but the massive price increases this year are just over the top.

Something strange about this whole story. High pressure has dominated and winds in the south have been generally easterly light to mod!

So what are you saying?

Just in case you think this is a tall tale, please feel free to call the CG at Dartmouth and ask about the weather of Prawl point on Wednesday ...

Good stuff, Humperdinck, I'm looking forward to seeing a full account in YM.

A few more hints here wouldn't go amiss though!

Sounds like a trip back form Cherbourg with the boys couple of years ago. Very similar winds but more beam on. had some fantastic surfing and genny wrapped round headstay caused some concern for a while. Great ride back though even though your couldnt helm for more than an hour at a time. Thought I was gonna be popeye by the time we got back to Langstone
