Someone recently bought me the book titled as above.

The only UK places were the Solent and the Firth of Clyde /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

For many east coasters the former comes in the same category as "See Naples and ..." or perhaps the author had seen too many seaside rescue programmes /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Where in this wonderful (subject to weather) isle have they missed?

It must have been see "Venice and the die". I have seen Venice and I know what the author meant ! To me the thing you have to do is at least cross one Ocean in your life. I always remember a very annoyed sailing instuctor in the Anchor in Cowes saying "Anying idiot can sail an Ocean, but can you find the leading marks into Newton Creek".

For me the top 3 would be:

Horta in the Azores. ( Peters Bar)

Loch Melfort

La Coruna

The Eastern Med, Turkey in the main.
Tasmania.
The Great Barrier Reef.
The West Country.
West Coast Scotland.

Not necessarily in that order. After doing the West Coast and Tassie, you might want to go somewhere warm!

Jaluit, Marshall Islands.

Seen as a Port of Registry on a beautiful 76ft Miller Fife called Serengeti.
I must go there.
