Hi there,

I have been offered one of these for £299.95

The unit looks nice, but I have never seen / used Raetheon.

Am quite familiar with Garmin - what's peoples view, and is this a good price for one of these units brand new??

Thanks

Grant

Are you sure it's not raymarine?

If it is Raymarine then I have one.
To be honest it is a very good ploter just that the way the navionics cartography is displayed lets it down.

Not as slick or crisp as garmin bluechart stuff, I used to have a 276c on my last boat, the Raymarine 435i came with the boat we bought & I did miss the cartography of the garmin.

I would stick with Garmin unless you want to integrated with other Raymarine kit.

Thanks - I wasn't sure and yes it's Raymarine.

It's a well known name so I thought it might be really good - interesting that you don't rate it as good as Garmin - I might leave it then.

I have been using a Raymarine 435i plotter on my 28ft raggie for the past four years, and have found it to be excellent for my needs around the Solent...........not too complicated to use, good size screen, reliable and have even linked the NMEA output to my DSC VHF to give the position on the radio.

I've never used a Garmin plotter, so can't comment.

Cheers, Allan
