40\' Bates Starcraft

I looked at one of these on the River Severn earlier this year after having 1st seen it advertised before Christmas. It was in super, but not perfect, condition. Totally un-messed around, and very nice, both inside and outside, and I thought very well priced at £55k. It has had few owners in it's 45 year life and remains Part 1 registered.
If my wife was more into classic boats I would have bought it there and then.
This boat is still for sale on boatsandoutboards and just goes to show that no matter how good the boat, when it comes to classics it takes a while to put the right buyer and the right, realistic vendor together.
If anyone is looking for a Classic Motor Cruiser I would highly recommend it.
I have no interest in this boat other than wondering why it is taking so long to find a new owner.

Vaguely remember one of these used to be moored back of Belle Isle, W'mere back in the 50's. Belonged to George Formby apparently. Mother was a bit sniffy about the (relatively) scantily clad girls on board ....

Nice boats though !
