The Banana Shark left Grimbsy Docks yesterday for Chatham.

Below is a video taken in the relatively calm Humber mouth before the large fetch of the Wash forced the team back.

The boat is amazing (smooth ride), the crew are incredibly brave, they are used to support vessels with divers on board to help release them should the boat hit a wave badly, out in the wash 30-40 miles offshore there was no such support and they decided to turn back, it was far too rough to attempt a video at the time they turned around.

The boat runs on surface drives, the engines are reved to 3000 and then put in gear, its like holding a toy boat in the air and then dropping into the water at full speed, amazing acceleration and a great experience.:)

metoffice weather station at donna nook shows constant 6 gusting 8.
Large waves constantly breaking , I would have been down to 10-16 knots in my Princess, they only knew 'flying speed':D

Thankyou to everyone who supported my justgiving page, anyone who wants their money back as we didnt make Chatham feel free to pm me, I am happy to refund you.

Anyone that gets the chance to have a ride in a race bred boat then go for it, its fantastic.
(like a motorbike accelerating through the gears but it keeps going and going)

well done Pete it looks pretty exciting if not a wee bit 'on the edge' for enjoyment!!Thanks for posting the vid.

Cheers and hope you raised some decent funds for the hospice.

Brilliant.......what a shame the weather Gods weren't on your side.

Love the rearview mirrors:D

Who gives a toss who's behind you at that speed:eek:

Thanks for posting that Pete.

A bit puzzled by "out in the wash 30-40 miles offshore". I suspect you couldn't have been in The Wash, you can't get more than 5 or 6 miles from land in The Wash.

only guestimate Paul.
when passing the wash , the fetch for a S-SW must be 30-40 miles ,could be significantly more, happy to be corrected if you have a chart handy.:)

Thank you Mike.

I think about £500-£600 , still attempting to raise more.(thats just one leg, the E-Lite team have contributed a lot more all the way round the country)

The effort the team (including land support) put is is exceptional.
Driving / working through the night to early hours.
Not plush hotels, they are grabbing sleep when ever they can in laybys/campervans.

I feel privileged to have played a small part. :)
