4.0mm² or 6.0mm² tinned cooper twin-core circular x-section cable ?

Hi,

Does anyone know where I can get some 4.0mm² or 6.0mm² tinned copper twin-core circular x-section cable ? I've tried the usual places and obviously googled but drawn a blank I can obviously find single core and make up my own but would rather use twin-core if available.

That looks like a choice of 1.5mm² or 2.5mm², not the 4 or 6 the OP was after.

Is the round cross section the critical part? I bought 6 mm2 twin tinned cable from Merlin but it was flat section. They do round up to 5 mm2 http://www.merlinequipment.com/page/document.asp?id=558

Edit: it was a few years ago. Looks like they may now only do up to 5 mm, flat or round, but I didn't spend long searching.

Hmm.. yes, although they seem to be suggesting it's good for 29A, where the OP has another thread going talking about 20A loads.

I admit 2.5mm sounds light for 29 amps though.

It's the difference between volt drop and simply melting the cable.

I get mine in 4mm2 and 6mm2 twin tinned (Ancor marine) in 30 or 100m drums from Aquafax, trouble is the 6mm2 is close on £6 a metre retail.

I have a supplementary question.
Solar panel wiring-obviously not huge amounts of sparks fying along the wires so instinct says you don't need big wires. BUT; it may be that that is exactly why I DO need big wires.
Any thoughts?
