I am currently paying £112.50 on my 23 foot Katie L through Towergate

is this a good price?

or does anyone know if I can get better elsewhere

I have never made a claim and so far I have given them £700 for the bit of paper no harbour master or lock keeper has ever asked to look at

I do have have the bit of paper just in case of ciourse

+1

It's what we used when we had boats that were cheap enough we could afford to lose them. Katie L looks nice though; I'd be inclined to go for fully comp.

never damaged a boat in my life

the extra £200 is eight days afloat

if Katie L sinks - then so be it

I would then go and buy another slug

any other repairs I can do myself quicker and better than a pro

ditto with the car - although that is unlikely to sink

£120 fully comp with Yachtline, but they all came out much-a-muchness. Zero no claims as it's my first insured boat in years.

Third party wasn't much cheaper, so I went fully comp. Most of the premium covers me to cause a lot of damage to other people anyway, with a small nod to my own boat.

Didn't you hit a supermarket trolley with a propellor once?

I would regard that as wear and tear

and not an insurance company in the world would pay out with so many ways of weasleing out

any lost adjjuster would take ione look at the slug's rusty old coupling and turn down the claim

just got 3rd party from Haven Knox Johnson for £68

saves me a tank of petrol and I have the bit of paper to show to the harbour master

Brigantia is insured fully comp all risks including whilst on a road trailer (not that I've managed to find one I can afford yet) with GJW for £138

A saving of £70 against the potential total loss of £4,700? (in our case). No contest!

Well that was £68 wasted.

If all you want is third party you should have it for nothing from your household insurance. That's what I do.

really.... is that true

does anyone else do that here

of course such an assertion will not cut much mustard with lock keepers or harbour masters

they want to see a bit of paper with an insurance company name on it and a name of the boat

I'm with Towergate too @ £135 -3rd Party, but going to fully comp will mean the cost of a survey to be added and amortised over the next 7 years or so before another one due. When I had to claim for 3rd party damaging my boat of course Towergate didn't want to know,so recovered them direct from the other party's insurer as they exceeded the owner's excess of around £1500 , but was done very affably and promptly by both De Novo and their client.
