If I have read this right there appears to be a boat recall by Brunswick Marine ( who make Bayliner and Sealine ? ), some of the range have leaking Petrol tanks.

Now I dont expect it includes the larger Sealines or Bayliners as I think the problem is with plastic tanks but how much does it cost to recall 3000 to 3500 boats ?

Presume the claim goes onto the Tank manufacturer assuming correctly specified but at £1000 for a refitted tank thats £3.5 m which could exceed their Insurance and bust them and then the remainder falls on Brunswick ??????????

Full list of serial numbers here if you own a small Brunswick boat

3000-3500 individually listed, I didnt count them but think it is 3357
£1000 estimated from when I replaced a tank in a Bayliner, small boats are built in from new and are pigs to remove

I realise it probably doesnt directly affect the larger boats, ( not sure if some of the smaller Bayliners/sealines have plastic tanks made by the same manufacturer)

BUT

Can Brunswick stand a recall of this size ?

That could well affect Bayliner and Sealine ?

Sealine tanks are normally alu, not plastic. No Sealines are being recalled. Even small ones.

No idea about Bayliner, but no Bayliners are being recalled. Not small ones, not big ones ...

I looked on 3 Bayliners at SIBs and I thought they had plastic tanks.

The tanks are built in under the rear bed.

The bed base has to be jig sawed/circular sawed out while missing the tank and not making sparks ( impossible to cut ply wood with debris/flint in it with out a few sparks ).

The tank is then fiberglassed in.
All working in confined space.

Bed then has to be screwed in and sealed again.
