I am about to buy an ENO gas cooker. They offer 30 and 50 mbar versions. Why the difference? Is there different types of gas/pressure?

Thanks as ever for the continuing education!

Not sure which is which but Propane (orange bottle)and butane(blue bottle) are different pressures.

Check which is most readilly available in your area .Butane seems to be more available in Marinas Campsites etc around the UK.

Sorry I cant be more specific.

As far as I can remember, Propane should be 37mb and butane 28mb, but I would suggest checking with your local Calor Gas centre.

50mB is a butane standard pressure that (was?) commonly used in Germany and I believe Scandinavian countries.

I have been trying unsuccesfully to source a new 50mB regulator for my (German bought) fridge for several years.

Peter Speedborough at CalorMarine knows of no source of 50mB regulators. He also says he believes the intention is to standardise on 30mB for butane across Europe (rather than the 28mB we use now, but close enough).

So go with 30mB!!
