As the winter approaches the prospect of helping a friend sail back a 20 year old 30ft Perre Fast 30 yacht from nw Greece to sw turkey in the next few weeks looks less and less attractive to me. I have an idea about putting it on a trailer and driving back with it.. is this feasible? or is it too big for that does anybody know. I should imagine the mast must come down and possibly unbolt the keel and take that off. advice needed please.

Highly unlikely as it will be almost certainly too big and heavy to go on a trailer that can be towed by even the biggest 4*4. Maximum total weight including trailer is 3500kg and width without special permit is 2.4m. So you are looking at a specialist boat transporter to do the job.

Wait until the spring and sail it there.

Saw a cat boat being launched locally and talked to the owner. 3.1 mtr wide, so needed a car in front with lights and wide load sign. Came down from Germany. But as Tranona says, it is probably the weight that will put it into the professionals hands. Though, you talk about unbolting the keel, if that could be carried separetely then it might be doable. Length is not a problem, as it is an indevisable load. Trailer would be expensive.

Just to note that the 3500 kg rule is for tow vehicle actuated over run brakes.
If you have air/vacuum brakes whether operated from the tow vehicles system or by electric powered onboard system then you can tow considerably more where you are not relient on the tow vehicles weight.
However putting boat on commercial low loader is by far the better option.
