I'm breaking the rules cos this belongs on For Sale but what the hell and folks on here often talk about refits and stuff for mobos. Anyway, does anyone want a set of Sq58 flybridge seats? New off a 2009 boat which was actually finished September 2009. They're currently inside in Essex Boatyards (wrapped in plastic film) and buyer would mostly likely need to collect from there, unless a handy delivery opportunity arose. £180 for the 3, say. Another forumite bagseyed them but plans changed and he can't install them, so I'm offering them here. No pressure, I'll just leave them behind in EBY's Alladin's cave of a spare parts room, if no-one wants them. But if they'd help anyone out on a refit job then just shout here :-).

They have plywood bottoms. Two of them have 4 projecting M8 studs about 60mm long, and the third has four M8 tapped holes (plates set into the ply) so they could be attached to any "box" base using M8 nuts/bolts. Or the studs could be taken off and they could be fixed with woodscrews from underneath

It's a bargain for someone, shame it wasn't before Christmas, I've just had all my back from the trimmers reupholstered in chieftain vinyl,

I know mines not a fly bridge, but I would have made them fit somehow /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

great looking seats.

Yep, if I sell two (cos many folks might only want 2?) you can have the third. You'll have to canibalise some old office chair to get a pedestal for it? :-)

Sounds like a plan /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If not, I'll attach it to the floor of the dinghy I'm still trying to sell and pass it off as an ideal matching tender for an SQ58 /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Do you think the forum would take to the idea of 'The Great Forum Flybridge Chair Relay'? - I am envisioning the seat attached to the roof of a number of forumites' cars with pictures of them sitting on it (whilst moving for the ex-forces guys) /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

i might be able to fit two, but they mite not be ok in massive rain? Are they made with closed cell and hence hard as nails, or will they nice and comfy but hence fill with water and be soggy ?

Axshully i dunno. Most FL upholstery ouside these days is done with that new reticulated foam. I can't actually check without unpicking the staples (which are s/s nowadays, btw - they did read your T48 posts!)

Retic foam is kinda half way in between normal and closed cell. It's soft, and strangely scratchy when you rub your hand on it, like a bathroom loofah. But allegedly it doesn't hold water. The water apparently just falls thru it. If you submerse a lump of it all the water falls out when you lift it out of the water. Apparently, though it all sounds somewhat implausible to me. It's a new thing, only been around for couple of years.

To be honest, constructionwise they're a bit what you'd call Fairliney. You'll note I have specifically removed them from my boat - that's a clue not a red herring :-)

Shall i post them to French West Indies? I was kinda hoping someone would swing by Essex! Also they wouldn't suit an Aquarama. Not a pastelly enough colour :-)

Ah, sorry to hear the dinghy hasn't sold yet. Keep sticking it on For Sale here - lots of stuff sells there but many folks visit onkly occasionally so stuff like your dinghy needs to be re-posted imho.

Remind me where you are. Nottingham? Prob with the Sq seats is they're awful to box up and post, and post would cost a fortune I expect

Well I'd like to post here but forum limit is £200, and I've had my hand slapped for it (fair is fair I suppose, others aren't allowed) /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

I've had about 5 general enquiries but most have said that they'll come back to it when the season starts again, which makes sense really, and I've had two people who 'definitely want it and will be coming to pick it up on Saturday', neither of them showed which was very kind of them as my parents had to stay in all day waiting incase, so half their weekend was gone, bit mean really... /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

It'd have to go to my room at home in Birmingham but that's a 6-hour round trip (I thought it was closer than that for some reason) so don't not sell it on my account, but cheers anyway /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

well if you really want it, and jfm doesn't get a better offer in the meantime, then it's possible at some stage i'll get the opportunity to bring it back to Brum, but not clear exactly if and when yet.

Nick, if relevant, current plans re your bimini are that my boat ships to Genoa 5 March arrives 15th, and I'll just lash your bimini frames (which are currently indoors at EBY) on my flybr (they're bubble wrapped)

Separately though I still have your teak table/chairs in my garage in Milton Keynes. I could bring a Sq58 flybr chair to there so it gets collected by your truck with your teak furniture. When do you want to do that (absolutely no rush on my part, in fact I'd forgotten about your furniture)?

Thanks very much for the offer, I think it'd be quite cool to adapt into a room chair (although I was joking originally) so if jfm can't sell it within a few months/whenever and will accept a tenner for it then I'd be happy to take it, I am merely a poor student after all /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

As I say though, just a last resort rather than leaving it with EB.

--- For anyone interested ---

I didn't just, ermm... bagseye - whatever that means...? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif - those seats.
In fact, I already bought them, and agreed with jfm that I would have picked them up when his new boat will arrive in Genoa. Now, my plan did change afterwards, but not so strictly.
And as I already told him, if he doesn't find another buyer, I'm willing to confirm my original offer. So, long story short, if anyone is interested, you'd better grab them.
Jfm knows that if he wants to leave them somewhere on his new boat when she'll be shipped to the Med, there's a buyer (and a dinner, but that's another story) waiting for him in Genoa.

Go for it, making furniture out of interesting things is always better than buying it, especially when you're a student. I still have various furniture made from snapped surfboards, SWMBO's not keen, but I remember where I snapped them, so there is sentimental value involved.

Maybe I should start asking on the wanted forum for people to drop off their unwanted flybridge or helm seats at my house and I will eventually create a boaty sofa /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
