3 - 4 year stint of living aboard in the UK, possibly Liverpool. Looking for advice.

Dear all,

I'm considering a PhD project in the UK. However, maintaining a boat back home in Finland doesnt seem viable with the low pay of post-grads and the high prices of housing. So, given the balmy weather and lack of sea ice, living aboard should be the obvious choice. I've come to understand that living aboard is generally accepted in the UK and that there are even facilities catering for the crowd? Do I need any kind of cruising permits? Or are there some other nasties hidden, like council taxes upon prolonged mooring?

I'd sail the boat, a 33 footer, over in the summer of 2021.

No permit required, I've never heard of liveabords having to pay council tax.

Plymouth Yachthaven are accommodating of liveaboads. They are part of the Haven Group, so I guess all others are the same. I believe some marinas don't like full-timers.
