My rev counter is in the cabin. One in the cockpit could be useful. Beta 20hp. I don't want bits hanging off the engine - is it possible to take a feed from the existing tachometer? Or two outputs from the alternator?

It's not drawing much if any current so it should work, with the caveat that you might need to replace the existing one if the old does not play nicely with the new. Cheapo alternator-sensing tachos are available on the internets in a variety of sizes and colours. Do you need the one in the cabin, could it be moved? Do what car makers do, plug the vacated hole with a clock.

It's the panel for the new engine I put in last year, so I'd prefer to keep it looking hole-less. Will have a look for something cheap and test it.

My Sadler had the whole engine panel in the cabin. ....seemed a very silly idea but fortunately I just had to remove it from the interior panelling without disturbing any wiring and move it a few inches aft and turn it to face aft. Then fixed it to the aft face of the bridge deck situated in a rectangular recessed panel with a perspex shield for water proofing. I was then able to start/ adjust the engine while helming.
