2hp evinrude recoil

i have a 1976 2 hp evinrude that has a broken pull starter. the pull starter comes out and back in but doesnt turn the motor. I belive it is a starter paw that is broken? can anybody tell me where i can get a new pull starting system? thank you, ryan

More than likely not broken but seized,you need to dismantlel the system,take care as there is a coiled spring in there ,not a hard job if your careful.

Is it an Evinrude junior? if it is, the pawl shouldent be broken as the previous poster suggests it will be seized, dont remove the screw in the centre of the top of the recoil cover, as the whole lot will fly apart, to remove the cover undo the four screws under the recoil cover.
