Just recently I have been having trouble with my 290 DP drives in that the clutches do not engage on tickover speed. I find I have to get to 1000+ rpm before they drop in, which makes for some interesting low speed manouevering. Any ideas what is going on? Also I want to change the seals on the prop shaft. Can anyone let me know the dimensions of the double lip seals and O rings.

If its the same in both forward and reverse then its not adjustment, and assuming you have the correct oil, I would then take the clutches out and regrind them with grinding paste, we have done this many times with success, the surface of the cone gets glazed and slips instead of biting and locking to the gear.
Can't help with the seal sizes as I have only used originals.

Just had a new clutch put in one of mine, it was fine in reverse but going ahead it was a 6 second delay which got to 14 seconds before I had it replaced, think the parts from volvo were around £400 but Key Parts were around £250, cant help with the fitting as dealer did mine. as spannerman says check your oil is not contaminated as many people said it could cause the problem,
Good Luck

Fwiw....
Similar problem improved significantly with sadly changing over to correct spec 'volvo' oil.
Had a new clutch installed and seating grinded 6 months previous which improved things but not really resolved fully till the oil change.

That sounds similar to what I had, it turned out to be a a stretched throttle cable, apparently Sealine use cheaper cables so had it replaced with a Volvo cable.
