Does anyone know where I can buy 24V low voltage halogen lightfittings and lamps? I want to install new cabin halogen lighting (like all the smart new boats) but work on 24V and don't want to waste power stepping down the voltage.

Thanks

Connect them in pairs in series, and use 12 volt. Down side blow one bulb you blow two. But two 12 volt bulbs may be cheaper than a 24 volt bulb, seam to remember a problem with 24 volt bulbs and cost.

Yourwelcome Who are quite expensive but do sell 24V - haven't used them or Ricam Who I did buy 12V from at a good price but may not do 24V - worth asking.

I assumed he meant that two bulbs go off together so he'd need at least four such bulbs if he didn't want to end up in the dark. He'd also have to determine which bulb had blown (fairly easy to see). But the biggest downside - at least it would be with my installation - is that the holders often get a bad connection with the lamp and you have to remove the bulb or flick it to make the connection again. With two in series could be one heck of a PITA.
