Does anyone know if its possible to get plugs to fit in the 240v sockets on a Bavaria?, if so where to get them, so I don't have to use adapters that keep popping out.
The socket has three holes in a row with the middle one being earth, they're not french and I have had a chat with a German client who tells me they're not german. I guess it could be a marine thing but I've never seen them in a chandlers.
Any Ideas?

I had European sockets in my boat!

I have replaced them with UK ones, My local shop recommended a socket that will fit into a single socket hole but provide a face that has twin socket!

Superb cost about £7 pounds each.

As David says, they sound as though they are Italian sockets. To confirm this, have a look at http://www.powercords.co.uk/standard.htm#ITALY and click on Italy.

I would not like to say where you could get these within the UK. Perhaps there is an Italian contributor who can help purchase and send them to you from Italy.

Thanks for the help, the Italian plug looks like the one, why would a german boat builder use italian sockets?, I could see why they'd use the french type as they are the same type as most european countries.

It would be better to replace the unusual socket with UK or possibly continental sockets. But you should look carefully at the wiring polarity. It is not uncommon for live & neutral to be reversed on the continent. You could get a simple mains tester - for under £10 - to do this. If you do travel to the continent always check the polarity of the marine mains - my experience is that it is reversed in about 50% of cases. I have made up a reversing mains lead for such occasions.
