recently bought an 2000w inverter, with the intention of locating close to the battery bank, approx 900mm(3 foot)
But the the problem arises in the fact that that it states that optimum operating temp is 60 d but my webasto tubing is in this optimum space and is the hottest part of the system can i insulate to reduce the situation?

The unit will generate heat when under load so will need to be cooled .. If they get hot they can cook .. The unit consumes power from the battery when it is connected even if nothing is connected to it .. So you have to find a cool place for it ..

Assuming you mean just the duct from the Webasto not the unit itself then you want to insulate it anyway. Our current boat has insulated ducting and far more useful heat reaches the cabin than our old Westerly which had along run of unlagged pipe under the stern and quarterberth. This is although the Webasto is 2KW and the old Eberspacher was supposedly 3.5. Lag it using the proper gear from a dealer see --

This may well keep the area cool enough for the inverter but is well worth doing.
