230 volt 500 watt immersion heater question

Does anyone know where I can get a 230 volt 500 watt (or less) immersion heater element with the standard 2 1/4 inch BSP fitting for my calorifier? Surecal mention one on their site but have not been forthcoming with a price.

1KW is the smallest ASAP-Supplies sell. Any good at 4 Amps?

Hi Phillip, the immersion will be run (when cruising) from the inverter, so the load (on the 24 volt batteries) is about 42 amps + a bit for the inverter. I did ask advice about this in a previous post because the alternator appears to get very hot. By reducing the load on the batteries to 21 amps (at 500 watts) I'm hoping to increase the life expectancy of the batteries / alternator. Stu

Any scope for using a 24V immersion heater? Transformer losses when connected to the shore would matter less, I'd have thought, than inverter losses when cruising ...
 
I,ve got an old note that says"Penguin Engineering,Hayling Island and alongside Immersion Heaters.Worth a try.They tend to use 500 watt in Holland,or used to do about 15 yrs ago,Prob worth googling.
 
If you are running the engine why not have a hot water feed to the calorifier, even with direct raw water cooling it will work. Or have I missed something?

why waste power going through an inverter when you can get 12 volt immersion heaters:

seems like they have every wattage under the sun.
But as someone else said why would you want to use the alternator to heat the water when you have several kilowatts of waste heat from your engine? most calorifiers are heated by engine water, the immersion is for when you are on the shore power..
