Hiya
bit of a long shot but we are looking for a 23 x 30.5 propeller or where we can get one
we are not sure that this size is correct or the original spec and pearl cant find any details

we have a pearl 43 and all it says about props is Monaco 23 inch ???? no other details, does anyone
know what the other dimension is

We carry spares 060 375 and strangely 060 374 , they are on a rack under a bunk directly in the midline .

Along with a tool kit of hefty spanner’s and spare nuts

First number is the diameter Second number 30.5 is the pitch .
It’s important both props are a matched pair .
If you acquire a pair with a bigger pitch ,there’s a possibility the boat will not make the rated rpm @ WOT .
Also running for long periods could damage the engines via overloading.
A smaller pitch and the engines will reach the WOT rpm but at a slower boat speed .
Builders do quite a bit of work in selecting the right dia and pitch so best to accept them .

What’s the problem with it ?

Your props are stamped with a manufacturer’s mark, diameter and pitch, you would ll need to know how many blades as well as taper and key size. You also need engine model and HP as well as gearbox ratio.

Blade shape and cupping make a difference.

The best would be to get the damaged prop in the boot of you car and take it to Clements Marine.

How badly damaged is the prop? It might be repairable even as a temporary measure until new prop or props arrive.

If you are getting new props get the boss drilled and a puller made up, also consider Quickcutter rope cutters.

hi all and thanks for your input

i believe the props on her are not original and have been talking to michigan props about a matching pair
they are doing calculations but i know this will be costly
the boat revs to 2850 but i think 63p should only rev to 2800
i get 26 knots and 20 knots at 2550 but would like to lower the revs if possible and michigan think that maybe a 24 inch might help
thanks again for your help

On the sbmar Cummins Forum (sorry to mention it again) Tony advocates having the engines reach rated WOT easily when loaded as per normal usage and prefers to see maybe 50 to 100 rpm extra to ensure the engines are never going to be overpropped taking into account the crap we stuff on board and a seasons growth. For example my engines (Cummins 6bta 330hp) are rated at 2800 and my target rpms are 2900 to 2950, I wouldn't be concerned if fresh back in the water and was hitting 3000 rpm either. I know I have a seasons head room and can carry all the junk I need. I may lose a couple of knots overall but over here it's rare to be able to do 20knots without losing your teeth and having chiro work for a month so not a big issue for me. I may even save on some fuel!

It may be different for Volvo, but giving the engines a little easier life may well give your pocket an easier life too..

hi guys

happy new year to you all

I am now ready financially to sort the props out after just having all new tekdec, canopy's and all external upholstery replaced

we are now liveaboard so now the weight is higher but still the same as above

I cant find the props that were fitted when built and all files lost apart from Monaco 23" on the file

anyone know someone who has a pearl 43 ????

cheers
