The Scillies are about 60 miles from Falmouth, so it is possible to carry the tide much of the way round the Lizard and Lands End and do the trip in a reasonable time. We did this once and ended up in New Grimsby Sound, having got there at high water with enough water to go between the islands. I haven't checked, but I imagine the tides are a bit kinder when going East.
