2010 East Coast Calendar Reprint

Think I might have to purchase a bottle or two of something from North of the border for our next meeting :D

Port. We need port.

I have just shoved over 2 gallons of best Single Malt up in the loft as we have plenty of opened choice in the cabinet.

Last night, in addition to the TV going terminally pop, I opened an LBV Cockburns which was very thin and reedy. I commented to Mrs FC that I was glad:
a) that it wasnt the only bottle in the rack
b) I hadnt given it to anyone I liked.

So it was on the table this morning with only an inch or two missing.
But the cheese was spectacular.

Port ?
Cockburns ?
What is the ECF coming to ? :o
Must admit I prefer a drop of good brandy given the choice, or rum even, but port is a nice substitute should none of the others be avaiable ;)

I always find port = headache in morning! My choice for post dinner would be a Duke of Clarence Rich Madeira.

Deep golden brown colour with honey and raisins on the nose; rich, full-bodied and soft-textured. It is a fine accompaniment to desserts, especially fruit, cakes or chocolate puddings. It also goes well with soft cheeses.

Anyone calling me a big girl's blouse can argue with a former First Sea Lord who was responsible for introducing me to this finer drink in life!! :D

I see.
Midshipman Karouise invited to private dinner sessions and fine wine lessons at Admiralty Arch. Hmm.

The dessert wine was actually a very nice Beeren Auslese, which, as we were dining in French order, came after the disappointment of the Cockburns.

I agree that a Madeira is an excellent swill, and can make a nice alternative to Sherry, but I prefer the stickier ports which cling to the glass having the consistency of a decent cough mixture.

Update

Just to let you know that after carefully checking my spelling I placed the calendar order late last night (Sunday) and I had an email confirmation all 64 were printed by lunchtime today so I expect to get them by Wednesday or so. I need to get one out urgently to Tillergirl but once that's done I'll sort out delivery/collection of the rest.

Stand by...
