not sure i did add the low temp additive so should cureEpoxy cures more slowly at lower tempratures. What was the temp on the shady side? Check the tenprature spec on the package.
Low temp additive slows the cure quite a bit too. Providing your mix was okay (and it sounds like it was on the sunny side), it should cure just as hard in time.not sure i did add the low temp additive so should cure
yes i think it was fine i used scales to the gram . I'm not expecting a showroom finish but just want a good solid paint covering . I'm using Jotun CA hardtop 2 pack tomorrow acrylic paint fingers crossed as I'm no paint expert.Low temp additive slows the cure quite a bit too. which is your boat I was a member of Rhyl Yacht Club but never bothered to pay during lockdown , you might know mine its called charmer was in there for years with a guy called Harry Hatton and scouse Tony.Looks good. We’ll be doing ours over the road in a month or so. I’m going to bite the bullet and rig a large tarp to shade the port side of the hull, which faces due West and has the sun from midday onwards. Penguard HB is almost 50% solvent based so that does evaporate a lot quicker in direct sunlight, changing its characteristics a bit.
i did 3 coats of HB on the bottom during that last warm spell we had i did one coat a day , everything seems to take ages on boats ive noticed.I used HB pengaurd 10 years ago on my boat. They were quite specific about temp. Average temp 10 degrees is what I was told. Over 24hrs between coats.
yes that's what I did. Must say it is supposed to give 15 years protection at the amount I got on. 10 Lt sold the boat but the hill still looked mint.i did 3 coats of HB on the bottom during that last warm spell we had i did one coat a day , everything seems to take ages on boats ive noticed.
probably yes i did think that but the side in the sun was soon in the shade and then the temp drops fast it went on ok just had to go faster in the direct sunlightForgive me if I have it wrong, but isn't a low temp additive intended to make it cure in low temperatures, making it go off too quickly if the temperature rises, as it would in sunshine with no wind?
If so, in the situation described, wouldn't it make sense to use the additive on the shaded side and not on the sunny side?
Good luck with the topcoat. Keen to see how it goes as another big Jotun fan. Just follow your instinct and only overcoat if you’re sure it’s ‘dry’ (can’t imprint it easily and doesn’t smell of solvent).

the Hb was a lot harder to paint on and took much longer it helped though that no induction time is needed with jotun CAView attachment 113569
it went on nice and fast and used less than 2 litres for the entire boat so will do another coat tomorrow mid day.
